glove box busted - need advice

The latch inside the glove box(in my 93 fd) has unscrewed itself and is now loose inside. I have taken the glove box out of the car and removed the handle, but it seems there is no way to take apart the glove box to screw in the latch inside. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Will I just have to cut out that section, reattach the latch, then epoxy it back together? Am I better off buying another glove box? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ahhh! Why did mazda make such a shitty glovebox for such a nice car? Mine is broken too. It is permanantly locked. I have no solution to your problem or mine.

My latch handle broke, but I still could get under and use a pin to move the lever around to open it.

What happened with mine is that the 2 screws holding the latch had come out from unside the box...both the latch and handle are still working but after the screws had come out, the handle wasnt pushing on the latch anymore. I took out all the screws holding the box in...and was eventually able to rip it out of there. somehow after pulling hard enough the latch let go and i took out the box. I unscrewed the handle and the latch is just rattling around inside. I was able to pry it open a little to look inside and there is two screws that hold the latch in. Mine have come out and I have no way of getting inside there to screw it back in or glue the screws in. The box is made of two peices but they are bonded together really strong and will not pry apart without busting it. I can probably cut out the section that the latch goes onto then epoxy it back together. That seems to be the only fix right now, beside buying another glove box. This probably doesnt make any sense unless you have had a close look at the glove box and how the latch is held in. But I hope that helps. If anyone can elaborate on this, and has any ideas to fix it, please post. Thanks.

If the handle broke off from the outside you can stick a small flathead in a hole and push the lever, the lever the handle used to push. Just get under there and screw with it til it opens.

A new handle is only like $13 from the dealer, 93's are different from 94.

If you were to break your handle off, could you get to the latch inside?

Same thing happened to mine. I just ripped the dam thing out, so is it possible to buy a new one now? Or do I have to somehow fix the one I destroyed? :P

the bracket at the back of my glove box is busted - and that's part of the dashboard, so if anyone knows a good fix please let me know!

My FD is getting parted out if anyone wants the glovebox. It's a '93 Touring and I'm almost 100% sure that the glove box is in good condition and still available. If any of you is interested PM BanzaiToyota since he is the person who is actually parting the car for me while I'm in Portugal. Best of luck to all of you. Laterz.
