I had an exhaust like that at one time, I'm not sure if it was that exact model. Don't remember if it was loud or quiet or what which is probably good, means it probably wasn't too rowdy
That also has a tip you can slide in or out to set the length. That can be handy for some body kits with larger rear bumpers. I would definitely pick a length you want and stay with it on first install, over time that will be REALLY hard to get to move again with heat and soot build up.
Greddy makes solid products so you'll be good there. I don't think it will be as quiet as the Tanabe but I think it's a good middle ground. I also like the round canister style myself, I remember when the Apex N1 first came out I the late 90's and was just WOW .
Back in the heyday, the APEXi N1 was my #1 favorite exhaust and had it on 2 of my FDs. However, nowadays, it is wayyyy to loud for us older guys. The PE-TR from GReddy will be great but still a much louder exhaust than an RB or Tanabe.
Currently running a Resonated Midpipe from magnaflow and a HKS Super Turbo Catback 31029-AZ001. I like how refined the sounds is a very low rumble and after much research I was sold when the engineers said they took inspiration from Owls when designing this exhaust.. gotta love japan looking to nature for inspiration. I can hear the turbos spooling up still with this exhaust at WOT.. I don't see people in the states run with it, I think it's worth a while to check out...

Yeah. I tone it down a bit with a mid pipe. Was a PFS midpipe with Borla resonator that I added a high flow cat to just before the resonator. Even with my old HKS exhaust it quoted it down and gave it a low rumble and got rid of any rasp.
That will be on the quieter end for sure. Looks to be a bit pricey, doing a quick Google it's around $800. But HKS products have always been top notch, you get excellent quality. But I don't know if it's worth paying more over the Tanabe.
Good to see the feedback in this thread. I have a pretty loud HKS exhaust on mine right now and im probably going to weld in a borla muffler in the mid-pipe to quieten it down.
Speaking of Borla, I just ordered a Borla S-Type exhaust for my GR86, arriving today or tomorrow. The sounds are absolutely beautiful, and highly underrated. The quality may not be nicer as many well established name brands in terms of weld quality, but for all intents and purposes, it's an amazing exhaust. Sounds refined like a high end sports car. The exterior sound is in the beginning, once the cabin sound starts, can skip to 1:38 for the true in cabin sound.
Absolutely no rasp or droning on any RPM range, and at the lower end can get pops on downshifts.
I run an Apexi Dual and I dont personally think its loud but I also dont start my FD if my 2 year old is sleeping. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Would have been nice to hear some audio of the exhaust on the FD. Super curious now
That looks more like a custom exhaust with Borla muffler. I had Borla exhaust on my MX-6, very high quality 2 piece mandrel bent, I can't imagine them weld together that many section for an FD exhaust.

Makes sense, Would be cool to find out either way.

I like how the N1 Duals look, but they are LOUD. I have a Borla XR-1 as a mid pipe and the noise is impressive.
23 years ago I liked how loud it was.... now not so much
I did enjoy the twin flames though.
As others have recommended will be replacing them with the Tanabe Medallion
My car came with a Postert (rebranded Remus) exhaust when i imported it from Germany. It sounds pretty good, but it looks like **** tbh.
The pipes stick out way to much and have that cheap looking samurai logo on it.
Oddly the N1 Duals fit perfectly fine on my car despite issues with fitment.
I was expecting issues but dodnt have any.
And agree sounds like a sick outboard. They look cool though in my mind.
i think we’ve been so exposed to 4 rotor music, that we forget we’re running 2 rotors less.
The rotary by nature has a very raspy “chainsaw” sound to it. It gets a bit muffled with a turbo so that helps audio wise.
The way the exhaust sounds really depends on what kind of resonators and muffler you’ve got out the back. The install of the N1 duels was no prob. Fits perfectly. If you were running the stock valance, yes, it will start to melt the inner portion towards the center of the car. But then again, what did you expect? Those tips are rather large compared to the tiny little tips the OEM exhaust comes with.
Since I was planning on running the Mazdaspeed r spec rear diffuser, I had to get rid of the OEM valance. Which helped out the exhaust even more. It actually looks very OEM now compared to most of the other exhaust tips found on our cars nowadays.
N1 duels for over 22yrs now.. exhaust still looks completely mint and people get out of the way when they see you coming (or hear you coming… )
My version of a Gentleman's exhaust (when you still want to make some power)
3.5 inch downpipe to Banzai Racing Magnaflow resonated midpipe to RE-A Titanium dolphin tail catback. Nice low rumble and the car sounds modified but still streetable..... but you have the twin screamer pipes for WOT pulls and when you want or need to get someone's attention. Have used them as a weapon before and can confirm: other drivers will give you a very wide berth afterwards
Goodfellas is truly hardcore.
I made sure the dump gets rerouted back into the main exhaust.
I remember a friend had his dumped out. Scared the hell out of me! I was in the car!!! I can’t imagine what it would’ve been outside.
When I finally went single, I made a note of having them route everything thru the main exhaust. I don’t mind loud but it has to be out the back and away from my ears.
