gearbox to diff brace mods...
was wonder if anyone had modified the brace that connects the diff to the gearbox. got mine out at the moment and thinking of welding some metal plates to it to stop it twisting under load and to stop it rubbing on the tunnel.
i know about the mazdaspeed one but dont think its worth it for the supposed 20% increase in strengh.
any ideas anyone?????

You have described the power plant frame. I don't think anyone does "mods" to those. If yours is banging or rubbing on the tunnel, yours is probably cracked or broken. I would just replace it.
When you start welding peices of steel to something like that, you are introducing new stress points that it was not designed for. Now if you are able to do a finite element analysis on your "design", then I would say go for it. However, my opinion is that the "more steel is better" theory will result in an increase in potential for cracking/problems than a stock member that is in good shape.
Do what you want, but I think it is a mistake to hack on something that engineers spent months designing and refining.
Just my $0.02.

I don't think there is any room to be able to weld any plates to it.. I was also looking at doing that myself.. if you come up with something, let me know please..
