Gearbox Clutch Problem

Ahoy, ahoy!

I have a clutch/gearbox problem with my FD (1995 JDM Touring X Converted from Automatic to Manual.)

Driving along, did a gear change and the car locked me out of gear. I managed to get the car back into a gear and it cruised for a while.

Had to stop, took the car out of gear. It wouldn’t let me get into any gear. Stopped the engine and managed to get into first gear. The car was able to start and kick over in 1st with no clutch pedal action.

Got it home doing this… Dam, they have a strong starter motor…

After looking through the service port of the gearbox, the finger is still operating and pulling the pressure plate away from the engine (as per normal). I can’t see any obvious damage from the service port.

The car will go into all gears when the engine is off, but it won’t when the engine is on…

Any ideas ?

If the clutch is truly disengaging as you think it is, there is only one other logical cause: seized pilot bearing.

However, are you absolutely certain that the clutch disk is being totally released? The disk could be warped, the clutch fork could have partially broken (there was a thread yesterday on this), etc., causing your problem.
