gauge replacement question

I'd like to replace my autometer digital water temp gauge with something more reliable. This thing is pretty cheap. I have the sender threaded into the filler neck. Is there another brand that will work with the autometer sender and/or is there another brand that will has a sender that is the same size as the autometer's unit so it will screw right in?

Thanks

The autometer sender is most likely 1/8th NPT, just look for another with the same threads.

If you're looking for suggestions, I'm running VDO Vision gauges and I love them (I used to run Autometers all the time, and they're definetly of higher quality). Pick up a 2 1/16th" electric unit from egauges.com and get a 1/8th npt sender with it. The senders are old seperatly, but there will be a like below the gauge to a page with just the senders that are compatible with it.

In general you'll be hard pressed to find a non-autometer gauge that works with an autometer sender.

I have the VDO gauges also. I don't think the senders have the same thread pattern as the autometer. It's possible that VDO senders come in different thread patterns. My VDO temp gauge has the same tread pattern as the oil drain plug.......whatever that is.

Good luck, I think you will like the VDO gauges. They are OEM on some Porsches.

You can get VDO senders in a bunch of different thread patterns at www.egauges.com, just make sure you get 1/8th npt, which is what the Autometer sender is.

These come with a lifetime warranty and I have them. Very good quality and very accurate. Price is good, quality is great. The sending units come in 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8 adapters.
