gauge pods

Hey...I'm looking into gettin a set of the defi-link gauges. They are all 60mm that i've seen...I know i've seen plenty intalled in rx-7s so i'm just wondering what gauge pods people use. I'm planning on mounting 2 on the A-pillar. So if anyone can point me in the right direction or post some pictures thanks.

The Defi D-link are available in 52mm. I personally think 60mm gauges are too big. Forget the a-pillar gauges.....go with Frank's tripod - http://hometown.aol.com/flyrx7/Rx7-Gauge-Pod.html

I have the FlyRX7 60mm triple pod. Yah, the 60mm are bigger if modified to fit dremelled 52 A-pillar pods since they're "in your face" type...but they are/look perfect viewg size when on the FlyRX7 pod because not so close to you. Just my two cents.

Is there an advantage with the link type Defi over non link?

Hells yeah there is. By FAR. MUCH more functionality and precision. On my 240 I had the Link series and it was awesome. The system is capable of flashing a warning light when ANY of the gauges go outide user specified warning limits. This is great, because when you think about it, gauges are only functional if you're looking at them. If your temp gauge is reading 250F telling you that engine is boiling hot, it's not doing any good unless you're looking at the gauge and see the temp and go "Oh crap!". With the link series, you can setup the warning light to be anywhere you want it, like on top of the steering column and ANYTIME there is a problem, it will flash a big bright light at you. The damn thing flashes as bright as a shift light on a 5" tach so if you miss that, you MUST be blind. Thsi means that you can let your gauges work for you and you are able to focus on what you should be doing....driving.

Furhermore, the Link series have a record and playback feature which I found very helpful when testing various things. It allows you to record and playback all your gauges at once. It can record up to 3 minutes of data. This was very handy when I was testing out different radiators in my car because it allowed me to replay the gauges over and over again and take notes so that I could compare one radiator against the other. The same thing could be used to troubleshoot the stupidly complicated twin turbo system on the RX-7.

Lastly, if you have the link series and have both the fuel pressure and boost pressure, it has the capability of displaying the difference in pressure between the two. This means that it shows you fuel pump pressure as a function of boost. This is good for diagnosing fuel pressure conditions.

I have the tripod and love it. It looks stock. Mazda should have done it. Yes the dash speaker comes out but as old as I am I don't miss the frequency loss. In fact my stock bose unit and antenna does not function properly. Since I drive maybe 1500 miles/year it is not high on my priority list.

I was waiting for almost 3,4ish months to get the pod from FlyRx7, so not sure if anyone else has had any luck with him. I just said screw it and got a DIN panel for underneath the radio however I don't think you can fit 60mms in there since the 52's barely fit.

You can get them in both sizes; just not so sure about orders anymore. I'm trying to get a 52mm pod.
