gaskets with 3" ss exhaust

Hi,
i am asembling a kit from aspec that came with a stainless steel downpipe and i am building a midpipe with also 3" pieces.i used 1/2" flanges between the sections welded.
Should i use gaskets between?
I tried to grind the flanges as flat i could with a disk sander but i am not sure is that is sufficient.
Sbould i use any kind of sealer between?rtv red maybe?
Thanks!

I wouldn't, just from logic to me it would seem like you're defeating the purpose of a gasket if it's solid metal. A gasket imo is supposed to be made of a softer material so it compresses when you tighten it down, eliminating any tiny gaps.

I think spending $30-$40 on one gasket is ridiculous OEM brands, so I bought some from ebay that were like $10 each and they fit perfectly fine.
