Guys,

I am researching a swap to a 2001 motor in CA, and know that I have to meet the 2001 smog rules to get it smog legal.

Can you tell me a little about the RX7 system? Does it have an evap canister? How would one go about getting it up to 2001 standards?

Yep.

I have most of the smog issues sorted out, and the tank requirements are some of the last.

Please dont hate for defiling a RX7. Think of it this way, you got a hardcore v-8 american guy into a beautiful piece of machinery.

I am just looking to get into the high 10s/low 11s for under 15k

 

What has a smog referee told you?

 

Basically, the swap for CA has 2 simple rules-

1. A newer motor. So you can put a GN turbo v-6 in a FC, but not a FD. so a LT1 or LS1 is good to put in a FD

2. ALL of the original smog provisions MUST be on the car-

2 cats
4 o2
AIR
EVAP
EGR
etc....


So, its not that big of a deal, I have ideas on most of the stuff but the tank.
