Gas door release sluggish

Any suggestions to get the plastic pin to move more freely when releasing the gas fill door? Graphite powder?

I sprayed mine down with silicone spray and sluggishness went away.

Is it getting stuck in the cylinder? If so, you can try spraying a little lube in it. Also, don't press the gas door lever all the way. Only press it enough to open the lid.
