Hi guys, im looking to replace this turbo with my HKS t51r kai turbo. This local guy have 1 for sale, he said it only had about 10 passes on it and he want to sell it for $1300. Is this a reasonable price? and what should i be looking for when checking it out? shaft plays and anything else. Thanks a lot.

 

The t51r may be rebuildable as long as the bearing, wheels, and shaft are good. Not every part is readily available which is why I generally steer away from HKS turbos. Proicing would be about $575. A new Garrett GT4294 goes between $1300-$2100 depending if it is the ball bearing version or not. Usually the R designates ball bearing, but I would make sure that is what the seller has.
