I have to say again how good this brace works and there is zero vibration . This is defiantely worth the few bucks it costs. David please start making a tranny brace and a rear diff brace for us as I have seen them being built by others.

david actually had the idea to make a tranny brace instead of an engine brace. the tranny is where the brace actually SHOULD be. he didnt do it cause everybody seemed to like the placement of the one he makes and its a whole lot easier to install.

i talked to him a couple days ago about that and he mentioned that he was gonna end up doing the tranny brace. ill ask him about the diff. . . that would actually help the PPF a bunch. good input!!!

Apneablue, if you still need help on the install, let me know. I just went through it myself. I can scan Mr. Garfinkle's handwritten directions and sketches if you need. And I'll add my own comments where necessary. It was kind of a pain to install, but I hope it'll be worth it.

I just gave David the measurement for my bar today, and I should have a full review up within the week. But so far, I have no complaints.

Well all I have installed right now are the brackets. The one on the fender and the engine hanger replacement. When you order the bar directly from Garfinkle (which is cheaper, I might add, it was $85) he send you the brackets, you install and measure, then call him with a measurement for the bar, and me custom makes and sends the bar. So I have no idea how it feels yet.

As far as the brackets, they seem really good. Really well secured ( I was skeptical about the fender side, but it is on there like **** on velcro). The hardest part about the install was the drilling, but that was cus I refused to take the ABS out.

haha, i can understand on your part about the abs. just having the whole thing drained, refilled, and bled is kinda one of those things you dont wanna have to mess up. i guarantee youll like it. its an amazing piece.

i mentioned in another thread i believe that a tranny brace is in the making. that was where he originally wanted to mount the brace. thats where it would be most effective, but the placement now is a whole lot easier to install than putting it on the tranny tunnel. you think its a pain drilling into the fender wall? try on the tranny tunnel. haha.

So how much does this piece cost? I read something about $85 but I don't know if that's the normal price or if that's some kind of "hook up" price. I'd like to know more. Thanks in advance. Laterz.

So what you are saying is, if you buy it from garfinkle you have to measure and then he makes the bar? How does that work for people who buy it with the bar included? Isn't the measuerment going to be the same for everyone? I would think so...Reading this, I am thinking "Damn, I hope mine fits!"

From what David told me, each engine sits a little differently based on how worn the engine mounts are, and probably some other factors too that I can't remember.

When I told him the length of my bar (13 9/16") he told me mine was the longest to date. Your will probably fit, but you may need to jack the engine up a little to get it into place.

If all else fails, you can call Garfinkle and tell him the real measurement between your brackets (measure from right side of one hole to the right side of the other, or left to left) and he'd more than likely make one for you. He's a great guy, give him a call if it really won't fit.

CP racing buys them with a standard length of 13 3/8 in . The longest to date was 13 9/16, the shortest was 13 1/8 . Most are 13 3/8, but if any CP Racing customer needs to change lengths he would exchange links for them .

OK. Can anyone think of any reason not to chrome? Would the chrome end up cracking over time?

I got my brace ends in, and figured I should coat before mounting, so I don't have to take it off later...

I dont know about croming, but i just spray painted mine yesterday. I used a "hammered metallic" finish. Its a dark grey and it looks like hammered metal. very cool looking. Ill throw up some pics when i get the cross bar installed!

I chromed the end piece and powder coated the other pieces. It looks very good and I would take a pic of it but I am waiting on the tranny rebuild. Keiths brace looks like it is a quality brace and the price He is selling them for is even better. If the Moron Who had My car before Me did not damage the mounting brackets where Keiths bolts to I would have it on My car weeks ago.

Rxrotory2 7 David said he wanted me to look up the pics of the dif brace for him to see . He will not copy yours , he has shown me drawings of one had designed. He Thinks he has seen a picture of yours but is not sure . The one he saw was not rubber mounted . HE did say it looked well made and it may be better to go with it . The price was very good . I think he will come Sunday to see it on my computer .

Well I now have the torque brace from Saint Garfinkle fully installed, and I gotta say, I love it. The car shifts much smoother, there is no shaking at idle like there was when revs dropped (when putting it in gear for instance), and the car definitely does feel "tighter."

If anyone needs help with the install, PM me, as I have been through it.
