Ganador/Feed Mirror Q&A
I have the Ganador's on my car and I think there is a problem with the vision. In my opinion, you cannot get the driver's side mirror to move left far enough. You either have to lean far to the right while driving (some do that anyway), or put a small concave blind-spot mirror on the ganador. No vision problems with the passenger side, but the mirror does stick out of the body when it is angled for left-hand drive cars. That one is kind of hard to explain and I don't have my car with me to take pics of the mirror.
I have genuine Ganadors on my RHD car, but I've never heard of this before (I guess cos it's not a real issue over here lol). I did try sitting in the passenger seat and adjusting them all the way over as if the car was LHD, and they definitely don't seem to give as good a field of vision as when adjusted for RHD. Which is a bit weird, really and not at all what I expected. After all, they're mirror images of each other (sorry
) so I can't see any logical reason why they'd be different in this way.
With that said, whilst I obviously can't check by driving, it doesn't look to me like the field of view would be too feeble to be useable on the road. They have less of a field of view than stock anyway even when adjusted properly, but surely that's a small price to pay to ditch the standard Shrek ears?
They're an utter PITA to fit by the way, if you know a good proctologist get him round to help, you'll need thin fingers! An ability to see through metal is helpful, too

I forgot to mention the mirror does stick out of the housing when they're adjusted for LHD. The vision is usable for the street, but not ideal.
I didn't have TOO much trouble mounting mine, but it was a pain at times.

i have problems with the passenger side mirror visibility. it'd be perfect if i knew where i could source someone to produce some convex mirror replacements in the ganador shape. hahaha.
Definitely have a vision problem with mine. Plus, I'm short so I sit pretty close to the steering wheel anyway. So that makes these things virtually useless for me. There's a wholeee bunch of turning to check for blindspots. Haha. And yes, the actual mirrors do "stick out" of the housing when adjusted all the way. I have been looking for a set of convex mirrors in the Ganador shape, as well. Someone let me know if you find em! haha.
I do quite like how they look on the car though. That's why I've yet to get rid of them. (;

Yeah I love the design of the mirrors but we need to come up with the convex mirrors. And I've never thought about how being shorter would make it worse. I'm 6'3" so I don't really have that problem haha.

Alright guys... I finally got off my *** and took mine apart.. Here are some photos and my findings...

The last photo is of the back of the mirrors, those are the limiting stalks that go into the motors. i measured them on both sides and they are exactly the same.. so my theory on swaping those is out...I found out all of those at the price of my driver's side glass.. lol i broke it trying to it get out = (
I guess I'll be looking for a mirror maker/cutter in the next few weeks while i send my mirrors out to get painted....would it really be beneficial to get a convex mirrors cut?

The Ganadors are a real triumph of form over function. There are so few mirror choices for those who absolutely must have aftermarket mirrors. I put a set of BMW Z8 mirrors on my old car at $1500 a pair. They fit great and look great, but had the same problem. I am not one to shirk spending the extra peso, but I spent a few pesos to make them work and never could get them right. (So, I sold the car...) I cannot feel right about being intelligent and having mirrors I cannot see out well. People who have accepted this worse functionality in favor of having what they think are better looking mirrors is probably not right ultimately.

) I'd have a Citroen diesel & be getting 70 mpg
. The ganadors work fine on my RHD
I finally installed the Knightsport mirrors on my car and I LOVE the look of them.
BUT, vision is absolute garbage. If I lean to the right, I can use the passenger mirror, if I lean to the left, I can use the drivers mirror. But as Gordon put it, they are simply form over function.
I am looking to get custom glass (mirrors) cut or perhaps cutting my stock mirrors as a stopgap measure.

Guys, have tried fitting mine and left with a few mill gap on the vertical bit. Do people put sticky tape on it ? It looks to be because the plastic trim on the top of the door is sticking out a bit.

To anyone with Ganadors: Do they leak water when it rains or when you wash your car? When I installed mine I was looking at the hole where the harness goes in and it seems like water may get in there pretty easy.
Appreciate any help!

After looking at my mirrors again a few months ago, I noticed they're not angled the exact same on both sides. The one on the LHD driver's side angles back more than the passenger side. Basically, just swapping internals won't change anything. It's the way they're made. We'd have to get some made specifically for LHD. I don't know if anyone ever mentioned this, and I don't feel like going back to read through it all haha.
Took my mirror to a glass company today and they agreed to just cut out a glass piece for me. I'll be taking on the role of custom fabbing it to mount the glass on the mirror. We will see how it goes.
Here's a page I found that goes into a little more detail about removing the glass and better pictures of the stalks behind the glass. It's useful for thinking of ways for me to mount my newly cut glass. Hope it helps someone like it did me.
