Fuel Upgrade? or Not?
Alright heres my problem right now. Over here in montreal, we have Steve coming down in july, and I just bought a Fuel system from KGparts because I dont remember if it was Keith but I bought the kit from the Group buy. The kit includes a pair of 1600ccs with the secondary fuel rail, the FPR and the gauge with a walbro fuel pump.
Now heres my dilema, I was planning on putin all of this in before I spoke to 2 guys who know a good deal about rotarys, and they told me this. They told me that putin 1600's would be overkill on the motor. Since from their experience, its better to have a 850cc working full duty than a 1600 working at 20% because that the atomisation would be less effective. I dont know if im using the right terms, but to make it short, the injectors would be messy instead of beeing a clean spray.
Now on my end, I would like to have the most boost possible on either a Sequentiel or a non-seq setup (havent made up my mind yet, since the non-seq setup is way more noisy than the seq one) but I would really like it to be around 15-16pds of boost even if some say it is unsafe.
Would this be considered true ? cuz I spoke to mark at Gotham and he was telling me you can never have too much fuel.... Now I dont know what to beleive because mark wasnt exactly 100% sure and asked to mail Steve. But since im a ticking time bomb that can't wait to get my car out of my garage now that the stupid snow melted, I want to know!
Thanks
Frank

550/1600 will not be extreme overkill for running 15-16 psi on twins. Yes, it is true that larger injectors do not atomize as well as smaller ones. I doubt you will have an issue, as long as the overlap and injector staging is done properly.
The stock injectors will not be enough.

Steve isnt coming until the first week of July, and I plan on just programming my PFC and letting it know that theres 1600ccs on the secondary rail. Do you think there will be an issue if its not calibrated right away?

I wish I knew how to take/post a video. I could show you 160lb injectors on my flow bench and how "bad" they "supposedly" spray. These injectors have a great spray pattern and this should not be a concern.
