Fuel pump wiring

I'm installing an RP Competition pump, and I'm using bulkhead connectors for the positive and negative.

My question is: Does the negative wire from the fuel pump just go straight to common/chassis ground? Or is the negative used for control?

If it just goes to common ground, I didn't really need a second insulated bulkhead connector for the ground, and I could've just used a bolt through the cover and attached the wires to either side.

Yes, the Negative terminal of the pump does go to a common ground.
