Question Fuel Pump Speeds (there's two)

Anyone run the stock pump on high ALL the time?

I started reading thru threads that came up in a search...couldn't find a yes/no or good/bad.

I don't see why the pump would burn up or anything?

Please fill my head with thoughts,
DUB

Could cause premature pump failure (Denso's seem to run for a really long time though), cycles more fuel through the rails possibly raising the fuel temp. Could throw off your tuning at the switchover point.

It's a good idea to re-wire the pump at about the same point that a bigger pump & injectors are installed.

If the regualtor & return path can't flow enough, you might get increased pressure at idle (or other low-flow conditions). I have no idea if that would happen or not with the stock pump, but I seem to get a little jump in the pressure when my aftermarket pump goes full-speed when cruising at light throttle.

I have mine wired for high all the time, but for another reason. I haven't had any problems with my fuel pressure being too high at idle or switchover conditions, bit then all I have is a Denso pump.

I was forced to wire to high output all the time because for some reason I could not get the pump to run with enough pressure on lower output. It was the weirdest thing, just one day I could not start the car.. after a pressure test it was clear what the problem was.. sort of. I tested the fuel pump resistor and it was within spec, the relays were fine, I am still scratching my head. I bypassed the resistor so I have full time hi output, it also allows me to pressurize my fuel system by turning the key to 'on' before starting the car.
