Fuel Pump Rewire - The right way
I was in the middle of rewiring my fuel pump. However, what's the point of just replacing the wiring up to the fuel tank and still keeping the stock hair thin wiring into the tank? So I decided to replace the wiring all the way to actual fuel pump.
I used NAPA 12 gauge wiring, which is approved for use in and around oil, gas, and chemicals. This is very important, because most of the wiring sold is not designed for use around gas and the insolation will melt off over time.
A great bulkhead fitting to use is part number CFD-504 from atlinc.com. It's around $22 and is made for use with 12 gauge wiring.
For the connectors, I used reglar crimp ons from radio shack. However, I removed the pastic shielding since it's not made for use in gas. I also put a little bit of solder on the tips to make sure the wire stays secure.
Here are a few pics:
By the way, the fuel pump is the 290lph supra pump.
