Fuel Pump Re Wire question

Ok so i know this has been covered in the past and i did read thru the posts. I just have one question before doing this. So after splicing the stock connector at the fuel pump and adding the relay, do i then just re connect the connector (white) back to the fuel pump/tank side? Or do i have to run 2 new wires down into the tank to the actual pump itself?? Thanks guys

2 new wires via bulkhead connectors is the best way
Otherwise the stock connector can get overloaded and melt. Happened to Theorie iirc

Ok awesome! Just so I'm clear now I cut the stock red/white wire, run from 87 straight to the fuel pump and run the stock wire (green in drawing) to 86 and then 85 to ground on pump? Sorry I'm totally new to this electrical stuff.

nope just ground 85 to a nice clean bit of chassis....don't ground it to the pump

Removing the dual speed circuit causes the FP to run at full power all the time.
OK for a race car but questionable for a street car.

Depends on what type of pump the unit has. If it uses an aluminum vane pump, it will wear out fast and this reduces pressure. If it has a turbine compressor, then the pump will not wear out.
But both types use a brush DC motor and at constant speed/power will wear out the brushes sooner.

Relocate the speed relay near the pump.

IMHO The method of bypassing the ignition by running 12V directly to the circuit opening relay is the best of both worlds
Higher voltage to pump, still maintains the 2 speeds, and requires minimal modification/time

if you trust the factory relay, resistor and wiring still.

i think you guys are complaining for BS reasons, if you have any mods it's safer to ditch the stock system. but hey, it's your car, do whatever you want.

What sort of system would you suggest that incorporates different pump speeds?

none, build it into your tune. the slightly higher speed while idling won't barely affect the life of your fuel pump enough to worry about.

not sure why anyone feels it is necessary, my car hasn't had a variable speed system for 80k miles, nor have many of my customers and they don't have issues either.

Ok everyone thank you i did the rewire today and am now getting 13.56V at the pump but strange thing is the my Power FC is still showing 4.93V and at the pump relay (speed one) its showing 0.11v?! The car is running fine no issues and my fuel pressure regulator is showing around 40psi while running and when hitting boost my AFR are 10.9-11s so it looks like its keeping up. Whats going on? Before i did this the relay was showing 4.73V. Any suggestions??
