Hey DJ,

I heard that the omp is expensive!! Was hoping that I could just replace the harness as there is nothing wrong with the pump at all!!

Also, are both harnesses for the omp??

Thanks.

It is expensive, but you can always buy used. Try sending a PM to "Fritz Flynn". He typically has a garage full of good used parts. I agree with DJ, I wouldn't try repairing the wiring I would just get a good used one.

Ok thanks guys, two more Q's:
Can I drive the car without the omp working?
and nobody has answered this yet
Are both the harnesses/wires that run with the omp lines for the omp pump only? I am just trying to assertain if anything else is screwed, or is it two harnesses for two omp related connectors??

Thanks

If you have a stock based ECU, it will throw the car into limp mode. You shouldn't drive around like that. The oil pump itself is mechanical. The metering pump just meters 'how much' the engine actually gets. So, even if the metering pump isn't working, your actual oil pump is still moving.

If you have a programmable ECU, you could just add some premix into your gas until you get the OMP replaced or repaired.

Thanks for clearing that up Majhik,

I have an Apexi PFC (recently mapped). The commander was showing VMOP 0.00v sensor error, thats how I diagnosed the problem!

So can you not get just the harness for the omp from Mazda and rewire at the pump itself, or does it all come as one item??

And if the pump is still working are my rotors still getting some oil (either too much or too little) or are they getting none??

I only drove the car for 5km or so but it was not in limp mode or anything, seemed fine except for the sensor error!!

Thanks guys you are really helping me out here.

As sugested I will try and get a price on a used replacement omp! I just want to know all my options here, as I am broke from trying to keep this car on the road, but I still love it and refuse to be beaten!!

Just a careless mechanic that got me in this mess!!

If you have the PFC just premix and you will be fine, on my personal setup I deleted the OMP and run premix because I had planned on running synthetic oil. Definately doesnt hurt to have a working OMP and premix and I recommend everyone to do so.

Hey DJ,

My 7 is my daily driver and the places where you can buy premix over here would be few and far between, also I wouldnt trust myself if I was dependant on premix and know nothing about it either, so keeping the OMP working is the only option for me!

Could you answer this for me:
Is it possible to just replace the wiring harness of the OMP??

Like can I just order a new harness and fit it to the OP that I have??

Thanks again.
George.

It can be done to replae the harness but it is difficult to get to and I gaurantee you could buy a good used one and have it shipped over to you just as easy. The harness doesnt just snap in or anything, you actually have to remove another part of the omp to take off the harness.

That is exactly my question, can the harness, seeing as it is hardwired into the OMP, actually be bought seperately??

No, it cannot be "bought" separately.
