Unhappy Fuel Injector Spewing Gass!!!!!

It started RAINING gas under my 3rd gen a few days ago.

I took it to the shop...(NOT the dealer)

AND...he said that he though it was a bad fuel injector.

He quoted $650-700

($400.00 for the parts and 3 hours labor)

Does this sound about right??

Or am I getting screwed?

Thanks...

You are getting screwed...

At the most 1 BRAND new injector could cost $100. Unless it's cracked, you can send it out to be rebuilt, but if you said it was spewing that much fuel, then it may not even be an injector, and a hose would NEVER cost THAT much!

Find out EXACTLY what broke. I mean, not even the pulsation dampner is that much. It's about $125 or so.

It might be the Pulsation Dampener as well. That is about $150. I had to replace mine and did notice gas under the car. Either way maybe the reason they have the price up that high is because it is a B*TCH to get access to it. It would sound a little more reasonable if it was 200$ for parts and then 400$ for labor, hehe But like flybye said make sure you know what is broke.

did he say all 4 injectors are leaking? hehe...

a common problem with fuel leak on our car is caused mostly by pulsation damper. ive replaced mine during the engine rebuilt @ 97xxxmi. if a pulsation damper is leaking, you can smell strong fume of gas around the little black box. but if gas was POURING out of something, it could be a different story.

Thanks Guys...

He did say he was going to get under there and see what the problem was for sure....

The impression that I got was that his first instinct was that it was either the injector or just the seals and a hose somewhere.

He did tell me it would be CONSIDERABLY less if it was just a hose and seals.

With the holidays I haven't heard from him yet...

I'll let you know for sure what the problem is when he tells me.

Thanks again...

Chas

i am sure it is not the injectors. I replaced my pulsation damper thinking that was my problem of hesitation but it was not so if it is your problem, i have one for sale pretty cheap.
