This is a bit of a long shot but I was just wondering if there's any chance of getting those pics back or are they gone for good? Otherwise I wouldn't have a clue what im doing.

Here you go:

By the way, the Porsche filter idea didn't work out at all. I'm not sure if all the fittings and adapters killed the project, or if the filter didn't flow well enough to begin with. I've been using OEM filters and swapping them out every 20k miles or so.

Oh, you mean like Porsche's decision to hang an engine out beyond the rear axle? There's faulty reasoning for 'ya. I wouldn't assume just because it's Porsche it's the superior solution, or especially that it applies to a cross application for which it was never intended.

IMHO, faulty reasoning would be to assume that Porsche engineers would spec a poor-quality fuel filter simply because Porsche chooses to maintain their company's rear-engine heritage.

This is an old thread, but I still maintain that Mazda engineers are more likely to be forced to work in a tighter budget than they'd like. I realize there are more variables to consider than just the fuel filter, but have you heard of Porsche owners complaining of fuel starvation issues with a 1/3 full tank?

From my research, most mid-90's Porsche's made 200-350HP, and some were turbocharged. My assumptions were that the Porsche and Mazda fuel systems operate at similar pressures and flow rates. I think that's a better assumption than to say that the same fuel filter that can be found in a 120HP Miata is sufficient for a 250HP RX-7.

You're engineering from an assumption, and that isn't engineering at all.

It seemed like a good idea to me. Too bad it didn't work out.

Props to you for thinking for yourself, coming up with an original idea, and not being just another faceless sheep in the flock.

Thanks, Natey.

By the way, trickshot, I'd be very interested to see or hear about projects that you've worked on. It sounds like you have very high standards, a trait that can be very worthwhile if put to good use.
