Malloy Mazda, like any other OEM part. Unless you are a member of Mazda Motorsports anyway.

I just did this yesterday and I relocated mine to the engine bay similar to the 2nd gen's location. I used a t2 fuel filter and the car seemed to run fine with it and it won't be a pain in the *** to change again. I boosted the car pretty hard and didn't seem to notice any drop in fuel pressure so hopefully this works out pretty well.

No website, just do a search for their phone number, it's probably even in the FAQ sticky. Ask for Ray Crowe in Parts.

I like to stick with OEM filters, but if Rotary Performance says it's ok, it probably is.

Just get one from Ray, it's not that hard to change, but it's up to you if you want to relocate

NuTbAgSaN, it's real easy to change it out. Check out http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/fuel_filter_replace.htm

It took me about an hour to do my filter change (OEM from Malloy). I think it's one of those parts that takes you a long time the first time, but gets easier after that.

I use Purolator F54803 and have had no problems whatsoever. Costs about $16 at the local auto parts store, and you don't have to get it shipped.

IIRC, Purolator makes the "OEM" piece, and the one from the auto parts store is the exact same thing.

Haha, I just looked at the RP "aftermarket" filter on their website. It's a Purolator - exact same one I use, but $9 more than I pay locally. What a joke...

I found that a small needlenose pliers helps to open the clamps and touch of PB blaster on each hose makes it a whole lot easier to work them loose.

The problem for me is I still always get a fountain of fuel - I think those hose clamping pliers would make a huge difference.

I was considering some options for a new fuel filter on my car recently. I wanted something that was easier to service, though I wanted to be sure that the aftermarket filter would flow well enough, have a reasonable service interval, and do a reasonable job at filtering (particle size). After looking around a bit, I decided to just get another stock filter (though I would have picked up a Purolator had I read this thread first ). I wasn't convinced of the applicability of the aftermarket filters I looked at, and I really don't have room for any more crap in the engine bay. Like others have pointed out, it took me a long time to change my filter the first time, but it doesn't take all that long for me now. It's still a PITA, but I guess it is worth it to me to not have something else in the engine bay.

Maybe a mounting position under the service plate in the hatch floor would be the best of both worlds.

it's the "large filter" near the bottom of the page....supposedly carried by Mr. Gasket, but no one ever seems to have it in stock....if you really want one it's prob best to just order it from that site

So either UKDM RX-7s have their fuel filter in a different location or you are a he man.

The fuel filter on an RX-7 is a serious pain to change. It is on top of the differential and is not fully visible so you are basically removing clamps and hoses blind while wrapping your hands around both sides of the differential. All the while breathing fumes and getting soaked in fuel.

I did mine yesterday and if I had known it was going to be such a pain I would have planned on a relocation. My lungs are still sore from all the fumes and my skin dry from the splashed fuel. Not hard my ****.

[QUOTE=FDrotaryR1]it's the exact same product

I have it set up with quick disconnects near the driver's side strut tower so I can clean the filter element in about three minutes and never climb under the car

i dont want to put the filter there because the hotside of my single might cook the line or the filter
