fuel An6 fitings
hi,
i need to install some an6 fitings in my cars fuel system and i have a few questions.
with my research in past few days it came up that the most expensive fitings are earls.also there are many other fitings much cheaper but i need your experience guys.can someone please suggest a brand or give me guide where to look?
then, all the fuell lines are 8mm . can i atach there a hose with 8.6mm diameter?
i read at the specifications that the I.D. of the 6an (perform o flex or aeroquip)hose is 8.64mm . is it suitable? if not what can i do?this 8mm hose is coming out from the fuel tank so i cann not do much abuot it.
i am mising something?
also the hard line underneath the car is 8mm O.D. and i need to atach there a hose with earls fitings.
can someone please help?
many thanks.

i have used all kinds of fittings and all seem to work fine, some seem to be a bit harder to start on the hose but nothing worth spending a ton of extra money for,i would say to look at summit fittings they are the cheapest ones i've found and work great...and you can put -6 hose over the stock hard lines(i have done it with no issues)what i do i just be sure to double clamp it to be safe, hope this helps..jordan

hi Jordan!
thanks for the help.
these are all workiong and sealing the same? i think iread somewhere that some of them are with acutter inside and some with threads. i am not sure.
how did you double clamp the hard lines?
with a spring or a bolted clamp?
i am a bit afraid to do this.
thanks

Search the the single turbo section. There are a lot of threads on AN fittings and connecting the fuel line to the factory hard line. Just FYI:
the AN fittings are based on US standard sizes. So 6AN home is the same as 6/16" hose (aka 3/8") hose. 4AN would be 4/16" = 1/4" hose , 8AN would be 8/16" or 1/2" hose. So you would have to find the closest metric hose available where you live.
check out the technical section on anplumbing.com : http://www.anplumbing.com/tech.html
and here's a video on hose assembly

I really like Earl's as well as Jegs surprisingly. I actually find the Jegs fittings the easiest to make a hose end from. FWIW, I use the Koul tools btw.
I would however, take a not to say that Russell fittings are my least favorite.

Aeroquip and Earls are the only fittings/lines I ever use, and Ive never had a failure/leak, or heard of of people having problems with them on race cars...(assuming they were installed correctly). Cant go wrong with either.

Has anyone made a parts list or a diy thread on replacing all the fuel lines from the gas tank to the engine bay? I would love to replace all the stock lines as well as relocate the fuel filter to the engine bay. If there has and someone knows about it, id appreciate a pm or someone posting links to this thread. Would be a fun weekend project i think.

I have used many types of fittings over the years. All of them work just fine. The most crutial part is obviously to install them correctly as per manufactures instructions (which can vary). The leaks I have seen were directly related to a mistake on assembly.
The guy who posted about connecting to the stock hardline at the fire wall I think is just saying he used two standard worm drive hose clamps. Nothing too special.
