Front pipe, possible to remove cat?

Hey all,

Is it possible to bang out the cat from the front downpipe to save me having to pay for a new one?

Did this on my old car.

I wouldnt recommend it. This is a twin turbo car, and you'll be creating turbulence very close to the turbines. You can buy used downpipes for 50 bucks now, pick one of those up.

OK cheers for the info.

Prob is I think LHD downpipes are slightly different to the RHD ones and it hits something down there unfortunately

I thought the non-US models had no catalytic element in the downpipe.

If it does, then I think the only reasonable way to do it is to cut it in half then weld it back together.

Correct. They are different for RHD models, they have a wide but flattened spot to clear the steering shaft. Those may be a bit more expensive, but still worthwhile.
