Question Fried ECU, resistor melted @ pin A

Please help me. Maybe somebody had a similar problem or has an idea whats up here. I did search a lot.
Car was running fine, a bit rich though and bad gas mileage. Did an engine wash, next day car drives just fine and after turning it off the antenna does not go down. I turn the key and it is all dead, nothing. Pop the hood and the battery cable is off. Put it back on and turn the key. Now radio and interior lights don't work and antenna stays up. Trying to start it it turns over but does not start, not good.
I take out the ECU to see whats up with that. Sure enough here is the problem to the starting issue. The resitor D000 at pin A is melted. How can that happen?
Bought an ecu off the forum, put it in and car starts. Now error code 16 comes up which is for EGR valve.
To solve the error code problem I will do the relay mod.
Now I have to find the reason why the ecu fried so it does not happen again.
What is pin A for to pinpoint where the short is?
Any idea what is going on here?
Thx
