Found a local RX7 w/rebuilt engine for $9500 locally.. good deal?

The car is local. Has a dent in the rear quarter panel & front fender. Rebuilt engine with 4,000 miles. He says it does not currently have an exhaust on the car, & when you try to go into boost, the car 'falls on its face'. Im thinking a faulty o2 sensor? He thinks its the exhaust, obviously it wouldnt be.

The O2 sensor has absolutely nothing to do with boost on these cars. If it is running an open exhaust, what can happen is that the boost can rise to fuel cut. That can make the car fall on it's face, however I doubt the car is getting proper boost from the sound of it.

If you are serious about the car, find someone local who knows about these cars and have them check it out with you in person. You could be looking at a money pit, or a good buy.

Ok. I know with my car, until the o2 sensors warm up, if I try to go into boost, the car falls on its face & accelerates slower than it would if I just casually were driving. After its warm, no more problems. Its this 15 degree weather >

A search on Autotrader, Cars.com or Ebay will reveal that this is not a good deal.
Consider all the $$ to get this car back to good condition and you could easily buy a nice 60K mile car with no issues. Extend your search beyond your local area, a 500mile trip to pick up a nicer car is well worth it.

you fix limp mode by first pulling codes that are stored in your ecu
then disconnect neg battery cable, press and hold down brake peddle for 20-30 seconds
then reconect and drive it around. it fixed my bogging,

Based on reading the for sale ad, that guy knows jack about his car. Single turbo non-seq conversion? 2.5 inch street racing exhaust? special 2 piece apexi seal kit? He also seems shady, says he's selling the car b/c he bought another FD, but if you scroll down the ad you'll see that one is for sale too.

This moron gets 2 thumbs down
