I'd love to see the look on the faces of people like Makenzie71 and Manntis if they showed up one day and the lounge and difference of opinion forums were just gone. In fact, I'd PAY to make that a reality.

Yea, those forums all need to b seriously post limited or just killed. There are plenty of bullshit forums out there for those types of discussions anyways. Craigslist anyone?

I agree very strongly about the grace period thing.

On a differant note. People on this forum seem to be very mean. Snapping at newb and other members alike. This kind of agression over the internet is silly.

The FDs fame and the disturbingly, ever larger growing, demographic of teen-age internet junkies make the poor automobile a prime target for the people you love to hate.

My hope is the less than intelligent comments made usind leet and shall we say, "urban" speach dont biggot the forums populace towards people that are younge and/or have a low post count.

I would also like to remind you that a forum is a place to escape our busy and often trubled lives to talk with peers about a common intrest. It should not be a place the causes stress.

Beny,

We're not interested in Internet solace. Take that **** back to the aromatherapy room. We want the crap GONE.

I didn't realize there was such a thing until you mentioned it. I agree - get rid of it and the Lounge - and put a 'redirect' to whatever forum out there that is popular for these kind of things.

I see that a lot people posting in this thread are part of the "can't we all get along" crowd. That is the problem on the forum and in our society in general. Everything caters to the lowest common denominator. I hated it in school, and I damn sure hate it now.

There is no obligation to be friendly to every moron who hops on the forum.

Also, to those who keep spouting the old argument that "if you think a thread is dumb, just don't read it or don't post in it": THAT DOESN'T WORK. The problem is, all of these worthless threads clog up the forum, making it that much harder to read or find useful information.

I also agree that the Lounge should be banned or heavily restricted as Jim suggested (no pictures, AND NO SIGNATURES!). As far as that goes, I don't know about the other regional forums, but the West forum has been essentially rendered useless by about 5 individuals who apparently forgot to mature after middle school. It's frustrating!

To reiterate the wish list:

*minimum of one week waiting period to start a thread after joining
*improve search engine and make it come up whenever someone tries to start a thread
*delete useless threads instead of locking them
*ban pictures in signatures
*ban pictures and signatures in the Lounge area or get rid of the Lounge entirely

I'd love to see the addition of an 'Advanced Technical section' for the 3rd gen area, and I strongly favor the grace period before posting. It's easy to get frustrated seeing the same posts all the time, but at least for me it gives me something to do all day at work

Interestingly, us guys in here with 2001-2002 registration dates are the ones who seem to be favoring these changes. I guess the newer people haven't been exposed long enough

Also, if removing the Lounge and DOO forums meant making the server faster/more reliable, I say go for it.

The question: Why do we have the lounge??
The answer: To sell advertising!! There is no other reason.

1. We shut the **** up and LEAVE.

2. We continue bitching about it until something happens. If it becomes apparent nothing will change - then we either leave entirely, or a part of us does.
I would just learn to post in the appropriate sections, thats all.

Ok guys. We now have the "Advanced Topics" section.

Please help out the moderators and use the "REPORT" function on threads that you believe either should or shouldn't be in the Advanced Section.

That doesn't mean we'll move it, but it will help us located the ones we need to consider which we might overlook.

This is where we are going to clash Rynberg.

The West Section is a good example what this forum should be like, friendship. The So Cal guys get together a couple times a month to have fun. Yes, our friendship spills over into the forum. What kind of information do you need in there? We leave the threads alone that are for the Nor Cal events and Arizona events. Whats the problem then?

When a technical question is asked, whats the big deal if we have fun with it? It's in the wrong section. I always point them in the direction of the 3rd Gen Section anyways.

And almost anybody can agree that the help in there is the best on the forum. All you have to do is make a post you need help with your car, and people jump up to volunteer to come over.

Just another attack from the boring Nor Cal guys that wish they had the community that the So Cal guys have.

If a valid study were done, I suspect you'd find that the people who frequent the lounge, for the most part

1. Do not own RX-7s
2. Do not purchase from the RX-7 Store
3. Do not donate to the forum
4. Do not have jobs
5. Are taking advantage of their college's or parent's bandwidth and wouldn't be here if the bandwidth and the forum weren't basically free.

Personally, I think it would be interesting to see the number of click-throughs on banner ads broken down by forum. I'd bet that the lounge and difference of ignorance forums are very small contributors to sales.

I have to agree with all of these. There are sites such as Off-Topic.Net that are made for the lounge junk, and thousands of other forums out there to go to.

The elimination of the lounge is going to cause more harm than good. All that crap posted there is still going to be done on this forum, but now it will be started in the Regional and Technical Sections. Even more moderation will have to be done to keep those threads from coming up.

Rynberg had some good ideas though

It is absolutely asinine to make a statement like that in conjunction with anything that's been said in this thread, but it gives a good indication of your relative level of intelligence. Scanning a few of your prior posts confirms the diagnosis.

If you don't have anything intelligent to add, don't post.

I'm up for deletion of the lounge. It would free up band width and most everything discussed in there has nothing to do with helping 7 owners. If they want to talk, have them post their AOL IM name in their profile and talk on there.

I agree with you on this one Jim. Perhaps the people who set it up thought that it might be a source of revenue. I think that many of the people in the lounge would disappear if the lounge was deleted.

I say get rid of it. It contributes nothing to what is supposed to be a car enthusiast forum.
