the simple solution is - how much horsepower will you (really) want?

if it falls within the limits of the smic - then go for it

otherwise deal with the risk of the fmic or keep saving for a v-mount

I think an upgraded SMIC makes sense for you. If you go FMIC, it takes lots of labor and parts to do a quality conversion; and you have to cut out part of the front bumper support (assuming GReddy FMIC).
