Get a piece of steel flat stock, 1/4" thick, 1 to 1 1/2" wide, and about 4 feet long.. Home depot sells this stuff in the hardware department... Drill 2 holes in one end, so that they'll line up with two adjacent clutch bolts. Bolt the bar to the flywheel, and turn it until it hits the ground/lift/something. Torque away.

Flywheel stopper is the way to go, you'll need it for when you have to crank that flywheel nut back on! I got mine from mazdatrix and it worked great.

...and what did you use with that impact gun and the 52mm socket to keep the flywheel from moving? That was his question.

I, too, used the toothed mazdatrix stopper.

You can take it off with just an impact.. that's no problem.. but you really do need to torque it back on with a breaker and a flywheel lock. I wouldn't trust an impact gun to install a flywheel gland nut.

Impact gun takes off free spinning bolts(like the alternator pulley bolt) so it will work for the big nut on the flywheel. Putting it on, I just like to use the tool though.

I have always used a impact gun to install and remove it. I would think that the torque that a impact gun provides on it's highest setting at say 140 psi should be enough to hold the flywheel bolt on. I also use loc-tite too though.
