Flakey Idiot Lights

Once in a while my dash ***** the bed and my idiot lights start twiching or stay on while I'm driving. Fiddling with the battery connector seems to help but I haven't been able to solve the problem difinatively. Any thoughts?

could you specify which lights? All of the dash lights? And does this happen during the day or at night?

General charging system faults can cause this. If your alternator is not running right, or if a strong load is placed on the system (fans switching to med or hi type of thing), or if the battery connections are not real solid (as you found), the lights all light up. Take your car in to get the charging system evaluated. Sears will do this for free. I drove in, and they not only found nothing wrong with my system, they said it was one of the strongest they'd seen, AND they didn't try to sell me any thing at all. Nice

Corroded and loose grounds can cause these problems, but also frequent washing of the engine bay will contribute to poor electrical connections at each junction.

I found and now use "Deoxit" and/or "ProGold" products from CAIG Laboratories, Inc. www.caig.com to help correct and prevent corroded connections.
