Fixing my ignition setup

Hello all. I hope this isn't going to get too long-winded...I'm currently trying to clean up / fix the wiring in my '93 and have a few questions about how it all works. Yes, I did try and search, but the search appears to be broken, and my issue is very specific anyway.

Let me just preface this by saying that I'm not very good with automotive electrical, so please don't be too hard on me if I don't know what I'm talking about...but I do have a good understanding of electronics in general, so feel free to use any technical terms.

I have someone helping me out who knows a lot about FDs, but even he is confused with how my car is wired right now. I did do some research and found out how the ignition system is supposed to work when it's stock, but it's far from stock at the moment.

So here's my attempt to describe my setup without pictures...I will take some pics tonight to make things easier, but I'm very eager to get this fixed ASAP, so I wanted to go ahead and post.

- The leading coil has been replaced with a TII coil and is being powered by a Mallory HyFire II ignition box. I have very little idea how this works, but the wiring is a mess.

- Trailing coils are stock and still connected to the factory FD ignitor.

- The part of the harness that goes to the fuse box that mounts near the battery was also spliced into.

- All of this was done by cutting up the factory wiring harness (PN N3A3-18-05Z).

I'm not sure how you're supposed to go about "upgrading" to FC coils, but mine was done very poorly, or rather, not done right at all. I mean, it works, but the wiring harness was slaughtered. As I said, it was spliced into in order to get the FC coil to work with the HyFire system, and looks dangerous.

So I guess my biggest question is, should I bother to try and fix this mess, or should I just return it to stock? As you probably know, FD primary coils are quite expensive, and I'd rather not spend that much money to "downgrade" back to stock. Right now I'm running non-sequential stock twins at 12PSI on a mild street port, but I want to convert to single turbo when I can afford to.

If I stick with the FC coil, where is a convenient spot to mount it? It doesn't fit in the factory assembly...in fact a shop I had it at ziptied it to a fuel line!

If I don't go back to stock, should I try and connect the trailing coils to the HyFire box as well? If so, can the factory wiring harness be used or will this need to be custom?

Also if anyone could point me to some good pages / threads detailing how to properly install the FC coil, and the benefits of doing so, that'd be great. Thanks in advance!
