Fix the car or buy RX-8 or something else....
Well, it is coming to the time I need to make a decision. I just don't know whether to rebuild the engine in my FD or just put the money towards a RX-8 or maybe an S4.....
I am sort of leaning towards just putting the FD in storage and tinkering with it later, and using the money I have earmarked for it as a down payment on a RX-8 when they come out, or maybe buy a year or two old Audi S4, or hell....I really like the styling of the Volvo S40/S60/S80.
I love my FD, don't get me wrong and will keep it even if it is not running right (or at all) as I feel the cars are truly one of a kind. But.....I only have about $5K, and IF (like it seems to happen sometimes) I was to spend it all on a rebuild, just to have it go boom or have to **** with it and spend more and more and more....I just don't know. I haven't had to spend a dime on my car that I didn't want to, just some minor mods and stereo stuff. It's paid for and cost me nothing more than gas and oil right now (and insurance) but the damned things are like a woman, seems like once it starts, you just keep spending and spending and spending.....
It doesn't help that I just got my latest stock portfolio and it is worth just a little more than HALF what it was this time last year.....grrrrrrr! I start to get frugal in times like these.....and a FD will gobble five grand quicker than Anna Nicole Smith!

Or, you could get a reman, then get some local help for the RR and save almost $3k of your $5k.
The RX-8 is going to be a nice car, however it's not intended to be a pure sports car like the FD. You need to decide what you want for yourself. Only then will you be able to live with whatever decision you make. Good luck!

if you are leaning towards a new car, i was going to say, before i even got to the thread, to get an S4. the new one has the v8 in. it is going to be a killer. and APR in birmingham is already making **** for it. i am going to purchase one as soon as the FD payments are done.....

Take some time to think about it. Market should do better this year. Springs coming. Oh yea, and your 10 days older than me, just a few reasons why I would like you to keep it. seriously they can be frustrating for a toy.
