Fitting new IM gasket, anything to know...

Hi all,

I'm in the middle of the none sequential turbo mod and decided whilst I was down there I would replace the IM gasket as a rotary tuner in the UK told me that they quite a common failure point on the FD.

I've got the new metal one here but just thought I'd check with you guys as the IM is a pain to get back to once the car is rebuilt.

Is there anything I need to know... is just a case of using gasket paste on either side of the metal gaskget to make a good seal and lining it all up (as per normal gaskets?)

Thanks

Dave

You don't need any "gasket paste". When you take the L.I.M. off, the bottom two center fasteners are studs with nuts on them. Just remove the LIM, slide the gasket off and put the new one on. Make sure the gasket is turned the right way. Torque is 12-16 lb/ft. on the LIM.

Thanks Joe, I thought as much but thought it best to ask... fingers crossed my FD will purr like a kitten once she's back together.

I've removed the rats nest and gone for the simple setup, just got to fabricate an ignitor pack mount now as the rats nest is no more

Thanks again!

FYI, you can still use the bracket assembly for the Coils. Just remove the small screws that hold the "rat's nest" hard pipes on, remove those pipes and still retain the usefulness of the bracket assembly. Unless you have custom fuel lines, you need this anyway, as the two larger hard pipes at the rear are for the fuel lines. There is another hard pipe that is used for the charcoal canister connection, as well.
