i din mount is when you get rid of the stock stereo and get one that only takes up half the space. then you get a bracket that goes in the newly opened space. that bracket can hold a few gauges. in my 93 i have a double din stereo. so i want to get rid of it and get a single din radio and put something underneath it.

James,

here is an example of the 3-gauge din panel (mounted in Alwan 16's car) and the steering column mount.

you can get the Saab din panel or a panel from Omori gauges (www.omori-na.com) or make your own from some black plastic

FYI ...

I'll let everyone know how this works out for me. I'm hoping that the modification will alow me to keep an eye on the engine withough adding an aftermarket gauge. I relize that I won't have exact readings availible, but I can pull data from the computer for that. I.E. this mod should make the gauge move enough to prevent another rebuild. ... Wish me luck.
Good luck!

Take some pictures of the procedure if you could.

While you have the engine out, definitely get a new clutch and light flywheel. Either 9 or 12 lbs. you will be sorry later if you don't
.

Why not wait untill the stock one is shot?

I cant comment on why to wait vs. not waiting other than it will be so much more easier if the engine is out getting worked on. However, check out this recent thread located here it might convince you to spend the money on a unit.

The cost and/or time to replace the flywheel later is significant. Over $300 for the labor, unless you do it yourself. Best/easiest to do it while the engine is already out.
