firewall impass with boost gauges

well im trying to install a boost gauge and a air/fuel guage

first is the boost gauge i've already mounted it but i can't find a good way out running the vaccum line though the hole in the firewall, the one by the clutch pedal seems impossible to use becuase i have no room to work with and the wheel well lining is a real bitch with the staples and all

and more ideas?

Remove the rear half of the driver's side front splash sheild from the fender. There is a large rubber grommet leading into the cabin right behind the fusebox. This is the best place to run any wiring or hoses from the engine compartment to the cabin.

I know what you mean, I just did this 3 days ago with my water temp gauge. Take off those plastic phillips looking screws, ( just the ones closest to the engine starting at the bottom) may have to use a vise grip and pull them out, mine didn't screw out. Pull back the fender and look underneath, you'll see the hole through the firewall. I used a metal coat hanger to feed the wire through. The harness makes it a really tight fit, but I was able to get through to the floor board. Good luck!

I just punched a hole trough the steering column boot with a coat hanger. Takes two minutes, works perfectly.

If you don't mind punching extra holes in the car and running electrical wiring and/or hoses around the vicinity of moving parts such as the steering column and foot pedals it works just fine.

I don't like the steering column boot. It is hard plastic, and I can just imagine it cracking. Pettit ran their boost gauge line through it, but that is an Autometer, with the tiny thin hard plastic line. Me, being an idiot, ran my Fuel Pressure throught there too. When it came time to run an boost line, when I upgraded from Autometer to Defi, and the line was thick rubber, I went through the fender well spot.

That one has the advantage of being protected by the fender lining. Then there are 2 layers of protection, in the rubber cap, then the insulation on the inside.

Right now, It would be tough for me to run anything else through that fenderwell holes, it has 6 lines now
