Jason,

Let these guys in on the typical average Japanese person's idea of maintenance on a new car (that they will replace in 2 years)...

the rumor: Damn I cant believe im writing this out....

A car comes with lets say an inspection (JCI)(shoken) OK now when you buy a car brand new from the dealer you get 3 years of this EXPENSIVE for Japanese (none y-plate cars) inspection. After the 3 years on the road, you will have to take it in for a re-inspection, bottom line at least here in the KANTO PLAIN, it $570 just to be able to start the inspection. The inspection can take up to 4 days depending on where you go to.

NOW Like me I can do it myself since I know about cars, and like my inspection on my vitz cost me $1400. just so I can keep driving it (the car cost $10,000). This inspection is good for 2 years.

Ok you ask why did mine cost $1400. to get it inspected. instead of $570. ALL INSPECTIONS ARE VERY STRICK! Well if the car is too slow, fix it before or you fail, wheels/tires too wide fix or you fail, safety viloations of any kind FAIL! yes that can be if you car has a big dent! FAIL! etc..... My vitz is in very good condition though.

OK if I take it to Toyota for fun lets say, since they do the inspection too, since most non-mechanical people take it to the dealer, bottom line price is approx $2000 and they would pass it will mods of any kind (just like the warantee) So if you didnt change your tires this year, you have to pay or you no DRIVE! So these fixs on what looks like a normal generally working vehicle can cost up to or close to a brand new one.

SOOOOOOOOOOO

If you have to pay $5000 in mods to get a 00 vechicle back on the road for 2 years, why not sell it or trade it in save that $5000 and put it towards the new car, and basicall drive away in a new car? I WOULD TOO! Granted most brand new cars dont cost about $10,000 here, so you have to dish the other money, but PEOPLE that are none mechanically inclined usually have desk jobs making good money, so they can afford to do this.

Do many people do this NOPE! I have yet to hear of a SINGLE person doing this because of the vechicle inspection.

In the states you have the PEPBOYS or whatever with in 20 miles radius maybe......

I have a PEPBOYS style place every 2miles away. Cars are WELL mantained here, not to say PEPBOYS is great hehe, but to change the oil, tires and *****... they are the best hehe...

Yes that was pretty much what I was referring to. That an average owner doesn't do suitable levels of maintenance and drives the car into the ground since they know they'll be buying a new one in a short number of years.

But if it's a rumour and an unfair one, then that's so much better to hear, honestly.

You realize all RX-7s come from Japan right?

I guess it must be cooler because a genuine Japanese person owned the car first.

nopistons94 ---Yeah I understand where your coming from. A lot of people think JDM is better, Japan parts for Japanese imports, I understand.

I think what everyone is saying, is there is great parts in the US just the same.

If I had a FORD, Dodge, Chevy etc... I wouldnt buy parts in Japan though hehe

When you buy a car in California, it takes forever to get your license plates. Considering how many people are in jail, I don't see what the holdup is

And a JDM Rx-7 sucks because...drumroll please... The exhaust manifold and downpipe get crunched in there....AHAHAHAHAHA what a waste of money. If you buy an RHD Rx-7, you're a total dumbass.
LMFAO...no, YOUR the dumbass. The downpipe has a small indention so that it can clear the steering column...I HIGHLY doubt that the indention(which is less than half an inch) would make you lose any hp. And since we're on the subject of downpipes....the JDM downpipe does NOT have the precat...so guess what, his stock "JDM" FD with a stock "JDM" downpipe and "JDM" steering column on the right side would make more power than a stock "A-spec" FD.

Too bad it's attatched to this car, and not at the very least some kind of Mazda.

Stuff from Japan is "J-spec," stuff from Europe is "E-spec," etc. They're just buzzwords that people kind of came up with unofficially.

It just so happens that certain Mazdaspeed packages are called A-spec in Japan, and you can get an A-spec package that includes wheels, body kit, suspension bits, etc to go with your brand new Acura here in the states and they slap an A-Spec badge on to go along with it.

IDM.. lol

Anyways, im crossing my fingers that everything is correct and the title is real. I will not give a penny until im sure this car is registerable here in Texas. I only have a few pics of the car so far, but I will post a full walk around of photos if it ends up in my driveway.

Oh, and for the guy who called me a dumbass..
That was extremly un-called for. Im not buying a Jspec because its faster than an Aspec (even though it is, stock of course). Im purchasing this vehicle because I think its neat. Plain and simple. Its just neat. Right hand drive, and two unusable back seats. What else could a guy ask for? I have been dreaming about this car for years so please keep the 18yr old trash talking in the civic fourms..

So you're making a show car? I can understand JDM for show purposes... but if you want to make something for racing LHD is much better in the case of Rx-7s. In my observations, JDM Rx-7s are not faster than USDM....
