Finally got it out
Finally got it out.
About a month ago I posted a thread about my exhaust sleeve being toast and taking out the primary turbo.

During the rebuilding process the upper rear manifold stud snapped on the reinstallation.
Big problem.
I couldnt get a grip with a Vise-grip, and the damn stud wasn't moving.
2 weeks later
Anyways I went a got a drill with a right angle chuck and drilled and drilled. This was incredibly difficult due to the motor still being in the car.
Hammered in an Easy Out.
Snapped the Easy Out. Why is the stud so hard to get out?
Big problem gets bigger!
We ended up taking a grinder to the stud, and grinding two sides flat. Then using Vise-grips we were able to work it out.
All I can say is that when the Easy out snapped I felt like calling a Code Brown in my shorts as I invisioned pulling the whole motor and dragging it down to a machine shop
Anyways, I will post a picture of the damn stud that caused so much aggravation.
It is going into a box of car parts that has brought me misery
Just telling a little story that happened last night.

man that sucks. i've been lucky in that not happening to me. only tiem i've snapped a bolt is when i was doing engine mounts in my old car (corrado SLC). bolt was corroded a good 1/2 inch into the threads pretty badly. luckily it broke about half an inch above the hole and a pipe wrench got it out after a long time soaking with some nut buster stuff.
broken bolts/studs = the pain
