Finally got my 7

I know no one probably gives a ****, but maybe you do since you've all known the feeling, but I finally got my first 7 and I couldn't be happier. I'll post pics later, as soon as I figure out how, haha. It's a '94, Montego Blue with tan leather interior, got it for about $9450, had to fly to Denver and drive it back to North Carolina, just got home, long *** drive. I have a couple problems/questions though and help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I've seen on here before that someone was talking about 5th gear synchros going bad... mine grinds when I shift it into 5th but not while it's in gear, just as I'm shifting, is that the synchro that's bad? How easy is that to fix, could I do it myself, and if not how much would that cost and how long would it take? Also, there are little interior pieces that are broken and I'd like to replace them to get the car back to cherry as much as possible, does anyone know where I can find various interior parts, like a center console panel, the little air vents on the dash where the dash meets the windshield, and whatever is supposed to go in the hole on the ceiling right behind the sunroof, looking for those pieces. Being this is my first 7, I need to learn alot so if there is anyone in the Fayetteville, NC area or somewhere not too far that I can hang out with and learn from and actually get hands on experience in person I would really appreciate it. My dream of owning an FD has come true and I want to know as much as possible about my dream car. Thanks in advance.

It had about 108k when I picked it up, now it has just over 110k. I actually got it in Littleton, CO. Bought it on the 16th, just got back to NC tonight.

Speedjunkie,

There are 2 clubs here in Raleigh and Durham, 1 is called MSCCNC. You can find more information here: http://www.msccnc.org/ They meet on 1st friday every month. The meeting is toward to more technical and racing related discussion.

Another one is in Raleigh, they meet every 2nd and 4th Saturday. More information here:
https://www.rx7club.com/se-rx-7-forum-35/saturdays-raleigh-nc-299706/
This is more hang out type club to discuss just about everything.

Congratulation on your new 7 and good luck on fixing your new baby.

Are you in Fayetteville for military service?? I used to live there for a long time, now live in Raleigh. If you have any question, you can pm me.

Andy

Cool, thanks for the info, I'll check it out. Yeah I'm in the Air Force. If I had a choice between there and here for somewhere to live it would definitely be Raleigh-Durham and NOT Fayettenam, I can't stand it down here. I'm sure I'll be asking you questions, and maybe I'll see you at one of the get-togethers.

Yeah the first night I saw it on Autotrader I called him and then emailed him like 3 times and we made a deal that first night, it was the first night he had it on the site too. I wasn't about to let that one go, haha.

Welcome to the wonderful world of FD ownership. Good luck with the car and your plans with it. My little dash pieces were broken too, I think all three together were like $75 or something thereabouts. Josh

Should have done more homework before picking it up I think. The questions you ask have been discussed thousands of times here.

Anyway, good luck with the car!

Yeah I thought it was a pretty good deal, I looked at several different ones and when I saw how cheap this one was for a 94 and it didn't have any major problems I had to get it. He said it's on the original engine and I checked it out on Carfax before I picked it up but it came up kinda funny at the end, all the mileages were in order til the last one that said no report and the mileage it showed was like 47,000 or something, over 60,000 drop, so I thought that was kinda weird. But it didn't have any accidents and no other bad stuff it said.

More pics

Here are a few more pics. I haven't taken many yet since it's still pretty much stock and you've already seen what I'm about to show you, so it didn't make much sense. It has some clearcoat/paint wear between the sunroof and windshield but he gave me some money to fix that too and we never even discussed that issue, and he's sending me parts to fix little things that are broken or upgrade parts. This is my first RWD car and I didn't realize it was so easy to get sideways, I've done it twice already without even trying, too used to driving FWD. It's so fun but I don't want to tear it up so I'll just fix it up I guess. Anyway, here are some more pics.

more pics

a couple more pics, the tires are a little more worn than I thought. Anyone have any suggestions for the best tire for these, with best wear, noise, drive, all that? I also put a pic of one of the front tires off my Prelude, I think my camber is off a bit. It was like that all the way around the tire, had them on for about 7 or 8 months with that same camber though so I guess I had it coming, just good I checked in time, haha.
