FD3S, formerly AT, no Ignition from Key w/ standalone Computer??

hi all, hope that topic makes sense, my FD used to be an automatic, but was converted to manual a few years ago... i am just finishing up the installation of a standalone Haltech computer in my FD, and it won't turn over from the key... the mechanic thinks that it must have something to do w/ the car formerly being AT, and that it isn't getting the signal that tells the engine the car is in 'Park', and that its Ok to start... the former mechanic that did the conversion remembers having to short two wires in the engine harness to bypass this condition, but i am no longer using the stock engine harness at all (or the ECU, for that matter) but the car still cant start via the key, but kicks over fine when the ignition is bypassed... my thought is that the issue of being in Park shouldn't exist any longer, since both the AT tranny, ECU and auto engine harness are gone, but maybe we are missing something here... do some of the wires in one of the ECU plugs need to be shorted manually to get around this? any who have dealt w/ any AT->MA issues that might be related to this problem please respond, we are scratching our heads at this point! thx in advance all...
