fd upgrade.questions

a friend of mine has just fitted a t04e on his 3rd gen.but the result isn't as good as he expected.i told him for that he needs bigger secondaries and possibly new ecu.what size secondaries do you suggest for horsepower of about 350.do you believe that the microtech ltx8 should do the trick?or we better look for a haltech?do the fd's use an electronic or mechanical omp?

You might get some better responses by posting this question in the Single turbo section.

I can only say from what I read as I have no real experaince with a single turbo. Most people will swap to 1600cc secondary injectors. Make sure you upgrade the fuel pump to deliver the fuel. I would suggest that unless you got a good tuner shop local to you that your freind gets a Apexi Power FC unit. There seems to be alot of available tech support on those and I am sure lots of people know enough about them to help you guys along in here.
The oil metering pump is electrical. The oil pump is mechancal i believe.

350 RWHP?
I am not sure what the real question is.
Does he have stock everythingelse other than the single turbo upgrade? What are his other mods?
This is vital information needed to determine what else he needs to safely achieve 350
RWHP.

The T04e isn't exactly the powerhouse of the single - really it's one of the smallest that is more a more reliable option over the stock twins. Power won't be much different over the stock twins and you can probably get a little more power out of the stockers at the same psi - not sure. Most I've seen anybody get out of a TO4e is like 393 rwhp or so and that was at a high psi - most probably get around 340-360 rwhp at 15 psi - but it is a faster spooling turbo. Most people run 1600cc secondaries with singles but 1300cc would be fine for that turbo. Fuel pump is a necessity.
