Unhappy FD at the track??

I really want to take my car to the track just to see what it runs. I'am afraid that I'll **** up everything and get a 16 sec. pass and embaress myself and my wife(94 R2). What are some good tips that a rookie needs to know to take his car to the track. I have a DP and Catback as my only performance mods.....yes my next mod is an ECU upgrade and a better fuel pump. What do you think I would run? I consider myself a good driver and its 5-speed also which Iam pretty good with!!! I've taken my car to its limits and I have had it easaly under control....at least thats what the car leads me to believe!!
Thank You!

everyone alwways thinks they are a good driver, but I promise you will mess up at least one run. Drag racing is like everything else, it takes practice. The biggest thing is the launch, if you want to go easy on your clutch, just let the clutch out. This will give you more wheel spin but it will be easier on your clutch. If you want to get a good launch ride the clutch out and you should get a decent launch.
You would have to really mess up to ge 16 seconds, I missed third and still got a 14.5. My best time was a 14.1 for the first time at the track. (bone stock)If I where you I would be really happy if you break into the 13's, for your first time at the track. You could also go on a back road and just practice your launch's. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Exclamation yep......

launching is the ONLY thing you should worry about....i took my car out the following week after i got my car.... no wheel spin BUT major WHEEL hop..had to let go and pedal to the metal again....2.2 60ft time...still managed a 14.2......also runnin a 9-7-7 boost reading......my BOV had a boost leak....
got it fixed NOW...and a blitz intake......but my clutch is OUT... so guess NO 13s for me till i get me a clutch....

remember to lower your tire PSI to minimize wheel hop, i lowered mine to around 15 PSI. I had an leaking intercooler hose and clogged cat, and I ran a 14.001 with a 60' time of 2.1xx at around 2000Ft elevation which ~ is 13.7 , and all i have is a downpipe/ypipe. I'm hoping to be in the mid 13s once i fix the cat, i already fixed the boost leak...

I have yet to go either but you will not have any problems if you practice on teh road, your launches that is it is all right there. After that it is just going straight and switching to 2nd then 3rd
