Is an FD Sun Roof Shield a Stock Option?
I have recently purchased a '93 Touring that has a wind deflector shield in front of the sun roof opening. Is this a stock option or some aftermarket attachment? Check this picture out.
Thanks,
Steve

no, it isnt stock...take it off as soon as you can. Why? they dont like to stay on when you hit about 120 on the freeway...I learned that the hard way. By the way, anyone want to buy a wind deflector that can fit an FD, lightly scratched, only missing 1 clip?

I have one on my car that was a mazda part or so it says right in the middle of it. I have never ridden in a RX without one but with it I never get any wind inside the car no matter how fast or slow I am going. I know that I have never had a problem with it either. I have had my car up to 160 mph and it never even fluttered. It is a thick piece or at least the mazda one is. I don't think it is horrible looking and it also keeps crap out when the roof is opened up to the point in which it stops on its way closed.(Something like that) I know the other day a bird crapped right on it and then the rest on my moon roof and I was lucky it was there because otherwise it would have been a mess in the car. Hope this gives you a bit more info.

There was a factory option
for both the sun/moon roof and one for the rear window which I beleive it describes as a sunshade.
I have the brochure in the glove compartment.

They were dealer installed options. They do have a part number. In my 1998 Price Guide, It lists the 1993-95 Sunroof Wind Deflectors for $50.70 ($35.55) and the part number is 0000-86-3007-92. Funny thing is they list one for the 1986-1991 and wholesale is $17.10 with the same retail $50.70. That is a lot of profit.

The SunShade, Sunroof Wind Deflector, and Stone Guards, are all Dealer Install Accesories - the were not FACTORY instaled. There are also Cheap aftermarket KNOCKOFF version of all of these so check closely for a MAZDA logo & part #s - Factory parts should have the Part# clearly embossed or molded in.

Thanks Guys!
I found "MAZDA" on the center of the plastic. So, I guess this was a dealer installed option. I will leave it on for a while to see if I like the function if not the look. The car was repainted, so removing the shield may get me into yet another costly problem to fix.
