CA FD startup/first idle problems.

When I turn on my FD for its first startup of the day. (mostly mornings or afternoons) the car would sputter and sort of rock when you sit in it. The car sounds like its awful on the outside and the car would slightly rock because of the stuttering idle. After a few minutes, the car calms down and idles perfectly fine. Smooth revs, regular fd sounds. BUT, when its not warmed up to standard driving temps, when I rev its sort of blocky and like i said, the sound is just awful. Any suggestions to what this is? Basically, during idle = horrible, normal driving temp = perfectly fine.

When the car is first started, is the engine rocking in the engine bay?

mmm, I haven't checked, but I doubt thats the reason. When I rev high on normal temps the engine doesn't rock the car so it cant be engine mounts

I'm not suggesting the engine mounts. Start the car and open the hood. See if the engine is vibrating more than it should.

If you have a seal problem, then you'll have uneven compression on start which can create a "wobble". As the engine warms up or increases load, the seals will seal better providing better compression (less wobble).

I would recommend doing a cold compression test and see what you get.

Hey spartan1o5 what are you doing on Monday around 11am-1pm? I need to go talk to my mechanic about my car and see about getting some new stuff for it, did you want to come and see if he can take a look at it. Hell we can probably go see funkjaw right after since I believe he works right around the corner from my mechanic.

AH yes school the eternal struggle, the only thing wrong with my 7 is the Digital Odometer went out, he changed it with a used one but that went out 2 so I need a new one. It’s going to be cool seeing really low mileage on my 7, on top of that I think I am going to have my locks changed since my cut is really bad. I had him look into getting me a R1 Strut bar so there is that, and then I am going to have it painted the color of my engine bay.
