FD security...

Ive never owned a nice car till now. So im very paranoid now. So what are some good things to do for anti-theft. Right now i juss got the autolock (clutch club). But over the weekend my friend told me his car got jacked even though he had one. Not that im soley relying on this but what else can i do?

pager alarm, clutch club(lock)? , fuel cut-off switch, secondary battery for alarm, and if u wanna go hardcore get one of them wheel padlocks that cover up the lugs. nothing can stop a theif, it can just slow them down.

If people want to steal your car then they will steal it period. However, It is always good to have some sort of security to help and aid in some way.

This is where theft goes into two stages (in my very generalized opinion):

Stage one - you never see your car again, because it is stolen by very crafty people who carefully and 'skillfully' plan their moves and will get to your car no matter what you do. This is where you now claim your full coverage from the insurance.

Stage two - you may see your car again or you may not. If you do see it again it may be completely gutted, damaged significantly, given the salvage title, ect. ect. because it was stolen by 'ghetto' people who steal and leave it on the side of the road.

Although I love and baby my car, the fact is, it is just a car. Having that extra security helps keep stage 2 from happening. It may even help out with stage 1. If the 'professionals' want your car they will get your car. For example, if you had a detachable steering hub, they will figure out what hub you have and bring their own.. Full coverage is the best bet for your security..

I've got an alarm/immobilser. Two points of immobilsation, can't exactly remember what they were but typically would be fuel/ignition/starter circuit etc. IF they were going to steal it, they would have to pop the bonnet and try to bypass the immobilsation points while the alarm is going off (unless they can disable that first). Keep in mind the alarm has a backup circuit/battery and all the wiring is black. You would have to really know what you're doing.

Needless to say, I doubt any would try that method of stealing my car if I park it in sensible locations. I've got a daily driver which I use when I go out at night to areas where I'm not happy parking the FD.
