FD seat belt receptacle/ receiver same as NB Miata

Peep this
I was working on the FD and cleaning up in the garage the last few weekends and made a discovery. The seat belt receptacle of the FD is the same as the NB2 2001+ Miata. Pictured below is the FD on the right (dusty) and the NB on the left (not dusty).

Here they are in the Mazda parts diagram. I couldn't find the full part number for the NB Miata part for some reason but the part numbers on the parts diagram match up so I suspect it would be the same here too.

I just remembered... I should try this to ensure that the FD seat belt "latch plate" works on the NB receptacle / buckle.

@gracer7-rx7 did you ever confirm if the NB miata receptacles works with USDM FD RX7 seat belt metal clips? Would love to know.

Also, I'm not sure if OEM FD seat belt receptacles look like what you showed in the first photo...Here's one I found from ebay which matches what's bolted to my OEM seat:

Thanks for reminding me. I'll try and check after the upcoming races when I have some free time in the garage.

this is maybe a dumb post, but the NB miata has two different shades of tan interiors.
there is a Beige, and a Tan color. if you look up a power window switch its easiest, traditionally, to see.

or there is black

@j9fd3s my apologies but I'm not quite following where you were going with the trim color comment, but I used the tan part to highlight the physical differences between the OP's photo of what he believed to be the OEM FD receptacle vs what I have on my car. In terms of colors, I do believe there were red, black, and tan variants of the FD belts and receptacles.

After doing more research, I have a theory that both receptacles from OP's original photo were actually from NB Miatas, maybe one from an earlier version and one from a later year (01+?).

But going back to my original question - is the NB miata receptacle compatible with FD belt clips? The main reason for asking is that the OEM FD receptacle sticks out quite a bit, so if used on a wider seat and/or rail, it hits the trans tunnel. If the much narrower NB receptacle works, it could enable some more seating options.

I believe the answer is yes based on comparing the photos of the belt clips between the two cars, since the metal part is virtually identical:

Will try to order one myself to confirm and report back.

its simple, the miata came with two different tan color interiors, Tan and Beige.
if you're trying to match an FD, you'd need to figure out which one of those it is.
