FD Pinion Depth Spec - how to?
FD Pinion Depth Spec - how to?
Refreshing an FD differential with all new bearings and wanting to check the pinion depth.
From the FSM, there is an SST that it used to measure pinion depth, along with guide block part number 49 0660 555 (28mm). I'm measuring 60.79mm from the pinion tip to the carrier centreline, but without knowing the thickness/depth of the SST, that information is pretty useless. I'm using the original R&P and housing, so I'm aware I could just run it, but it'd be good to verify while it's apart.
Does anyone have the depth spec with reference to somewhere else on the housing, or is it a case of checking the pattern and making any adjustments from there?
