FD Performance Questions
Hi, I have bought my first FD about 4-5 months ago. Some stuff was already done to it and I just wanted to know what else anyone would suggest. So far it has the Greddy elbow with V-mount intercooler, Turbo XS manual Boost Controller, Greddy Intakes, and a high flow cat with some kind of after market exhaust.
What I'm looking for is to reach 400whp. I know this is not at all possible on the stock twins. I was told by Dave at Speed One that I would need the BNR Stage 3 twins, or go single turbo. So my first question is: Which single turbo kits would any of you suggest that would reach my goal but not cost overly expensive?
Second, a few of the upgrades I am looking into getting soon are the HKS Twin Power ignition amp, and hopefully a PowerFC with Commander. But the I have been looking on rx7store.com and there are a few other things I would be interested in. There is a ring and pinion set on there that takes it from a 4.10 to a 4.33 gear. It says it increases acceleration and lower E.T. I am a noob so what is E.T. stand for?
So please let me know anything if you can help, thanks!

Search and Read. All of these questions have been asked countless times and I'm trying to keep you from being flamed. Please check out the single turbo section for your turbo questions.
I'd conservatively estimate that the turbo + support mods would cost you $5000 used. This is not an inexpensive car to own. When I bought mine I estimated that I would put $20,000 + into it the first 2 years of owning it. If I ever go extreme that number could double easily.

to make that 400hp this is what i think you'll need:
Apex'i PFC and Commander
Secondary Fuel Rail with 1600cc injectors
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Block Off Plate Kit
Upgrade Fuel pump (Walbro, Supra, etc..)
Turbo options:
The BNRs will get you there, but then you keep sequentials which can get a little messy
what i recommend from what i've read all over the forum and in all the reviews is the GT3574 turbo kit
and if the greddy intercooler you have is the Stock Mount one, then you might want to think about getting a larger one
and you definitely definitely definitely want to get Meth/Alky Injection...possibly one of the best products for rotaries...cools the motor down, cleans it up, adds reliability, makes you happy

^ Good call. FWIW, I made 370RWHP @ 15 psi, running the stock twins non-sequential with a PFC, 850 primaries, a walbro, 3.5" Greddy SP1 exhaust, Greddy airinx intakes, and a good tune. Dave @ KDR did tell me that someone made 391RWHP on the stock twins, but they literally lasted 300 miles after that dyno. My twins were in good shape, but it did wear the oil control seals pretty badly...
I'd recommend either BNRs, or something in the neighborhood of a GT35R. That'll get you to your power goals.

IMHO....Simplicity is what will begat longevity. To wit -
Single turbo and remove all the complexity (solenoids - BLECH!) and heat generation of running twins.
PowerFC and stock ignition coils with the correct heat range plugs for your intended use.
Contrary to the above (sorry curacao) I do not agree that a meth system is necessary. It is yet another level of complexity that needs to be installed/maintained/ and tuned. Apply the KISS principle.
Run a good tune with the proper cooling systems in place (IC/Radiator/and oil coolers...and an efficient turbo) and you don't "need" a meth/alky system. Get it later if you really want to crank up the boost.
But I'll repeat...it's all in the tuning. Even a crap set-up if tuned well will run well.
