Hey there, my body shop said that my paint was going to cost almost double for the materials because the VR NU color code is a 3 stage color, is this true or is he just tring to make more cash?

i used to work in a body shop. the vr red is 3 stages, first coat is the base coat, its looks like orange instead of red, second coat is the toner, this brings down the bright orange to vr, then the clear coat. the cym is also 3 stage base, pearl and clear
