FD mod Questions
Okay, I just bought my 93 sover/red leather RX7. I know plenty about supras, but new to the RX7 world. What is the story about having a midpipe and needing an EMS? Is there really a large risk of overboosting without the main cat? I need a little point in the right direction!

However, boost creep is different for everyone. Some people never see it as they are already running higher boost (i.e. they are running 15 PSI, but if they were to run 12 PSI, it would creep up to say around 15 PSI). Some people never get it at all.

At the top of this forum there is a stickyed topic with all the info you need, read it and search before asking anything in these forums because people are just waiting to flame you for it. There is a huge risk of overboosting, the risk is mostly if it does happen your engine is toast! Before you mod your car do alot of research, 13B will be alot less forgiving than your nice overbuilt toyota engine Welcome to the forums and good luck with the car!

..Nah...read the FAQ at top of this forum. The guys that put it together know what thier talking about.
In my opinion the minimum you should do is replace the radiator and AST(or bypass AST) as the stock ones are crap and will fail eventually(freakin composite will crack). Next every 65k replace the FPD(or it may leak and then FIRE!) or better yet replace it with a fuel pressure regulator with internal dampening. Replace all the vacuum hoses with silcone ones or other aftermarket product(or eventually your car will run like crap from all the vacuum leaks). Finally get a downpipe.(The heat from the cat on the stock downpipe is murder on everything plastic under the hood. including the expensive wire harness) The rest of the car can remain stock. Never let it overheat and change your oil.
If you ran a downpipe, midpipe and no muffler or air clearer on a properly running stock engine, boost would max at 12psi...and it would be loud as hell, but it would'nt overboost...It would probably run lean though...not good! ...Never let your car run lean!
...I don't speak from skill or knowledge...just bad experiences....LOL
