FD HID kits
Please check the Group buy interst section. This is specifically for the FD so I hope the mods don't mind. Just making sure the 3rd gen guys know it's there.

Yeah aftermarket HID is not leagle in the US. Unless you meet certain requirments. 1 they have to be adjusted correctly. meaning the light has an auto adjust to self level itself. 2 the light has to have a lens cleaner. (sorta like a power washer for your windshield)
I've looked heavly into this since the FD lights are to me unsafe. www.hid-online.com has a hy/low system they advertise for some years. But I heard recently of a system that does the same thing but also self levels. Which may also hold the DOT stamp of approval. I'll post more info when I have it. But from what it sounds like in the post, standard ebay $h|t

I believe the US legislation was against retrofitting HID bulbs into other lamps. A lamp that is DOT approved for a D2R or D2S bulb should still be be legal. The levelling and washing requirements are european, not US DOT.
