fd fuel line leaking again
I just bought a fd that alread had the fuel line recall done, but once in a while i smell fuel from underneath the intake manifold. I think its comming from the fuel lines. I call the dealer and they told me the line that they replace for the recall is $130, that is the line from the primary fuel rail to the secondary fuel rail, it has a 90 degree bend to it. I rather not spend $130 for the line, i was wondering if i can just replace all the fuel lines with regular high pressure fuel injection line or maybe ss braided line with clamps. Thanks. Will

It could also be the fuel pulsation dampener, yet another part with a high failure rate. It could also be your injectors. Either of these is more likely than the fuel lines replaced from the recall. Don't go to the Mazda dealer! It's a further drive, but take it over to Rick's Rotary in Pleasanton.

I'm going to pull of the intake manifold again this weekend and replace all the fuel line hoses and will check the rest of the parts. I do all my own work on my car, plus i've heard some pretty bad things about Ricks Rotary Performance. And theres no way the dealer will lay a hand on my car. Oh plus one time i heard a gurgling noise from underneath the intake manifold after i turned the car off, i'm pretty sure its comming form somewhere in the fuel system. Later. Will

Really? What bad things have you heard about Rick? I've felt more comfortable dealing with him so far than I've felt with any mechanic before. Also, several long term owners take their cars to him. Just curious what you've heard.

The gurgling sound is the coolant lines... I have had that before, it goes away eventually, the system is just working some air through it.
Oh and rynberg is correct when he says that it is probably the pulsation dampner / primary injectors...
Take this advice if you want (I've been in that area and have had all of these problems).
